The development of writing

The definition of linguistics:
It is the study of language
The definition of linguists:
They study of grammar, the social and psychological aspects of a language use , and the relationships a among languages ,both historical and present day .the field of linguistics include several major divisions .

Spoken and written language

Spoken language is older than written language. When child is born, he speaks first then he learned how to write.

Timportance of writing
It saves the history and the important events of life .because the person can not save every thing he saw.

Pictogram

It is picture _ writing
It is the picture that have or gives one meaning
It gives the meaning directly
For example, stone Age and signs of streets

Ideogram:
It is idea_ writing
It is the picture that carries different ideas
It has a hidden and an abstract meaning.
For example, the drawing the sun carries different meanings. It may mean the day time or sun or ……..

Logogram:

It is word _writing
It is the symbol or picture that gives one meaning
For example, in Egyptian hieroglyphics as the letter this means or represents the floor –plan of a house. Also, in Chinese writing as the letter which means the river.

The disadvantages of logograms

We have lots of symbols and this makes it difficult to remember.
